About the Team

Corryvrechan was set up in the early 1980s. Its reputation draws dancers from a wide area within the UK, to perform at events in the UK and at international festivals. Any performance can include the full team of up to 20 dancers, or as few as 8, as required.

Our programme encompasses a wide range of Scottish dance traditions.

All Corryvrechan’s performances are accompanied by live music. The team is proud of its own expert musicians and of its long and continuing tradition of working with some of the best Scottish musicians in the UK. The lively spirit of Corryvrechan’s displays is in no small measure due to the successful marriage of dance and music, a union which has long been a strength in the world of Scottish traditional arts.

Erica Archer is the team leader. She is a well-known teacher, taking weekend and day schools in many parts of the country and abroad. Erica has also been responsible for the creation of the Corryvrechan costumes, which combine authentic traditional designs with the needs of a modern dance team.
